During these difficult
times, many
people have to decide whether to buy food or pay their bills or buy
medicine. The Mt. Pleasant family has always been there to help those
in need. I am asking those of you who can help me provide food for
people in Guilford, Alamance, and Randolph Counties in a very simple
way. There is a table in the Narthex where every week, you may place
ONE of the following items: cereal oatmeal canned vegetables or canned
meats. dried beans, rice. any size zip-lock bags' and brown paper lunch
bags.
These items will be bagged and delivered on a rotating basis to
Greensboro Urban Ministry, Loaves & Fishes in Alamance County
and
the Liberty Association of Churches in Liberty.
"The Mission of Mt. Pleasant at Kimesville is to show the love of
Christ to everyone, it is the church's intent to include all people and
their needs in our mission, to follow Christ, to make disciples, and to
minister to the needs of the church's membership, the community, and
the world."
Thank you,
Amy FaulknerWe have yet to name this
special
outreach program and would like for our members to come up with a
suitable name, for example - Bread for the World or Loaves &
Fishes, etc. We need a unique name for our own ministry. All entries
need to be submitted to the church office by July 31 and the winner
will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Cokesbury Christan Book Store.
Mt. Pleasant Cupboard of Care
This is the name chosen for our new food donations program. Thanks go
to Kaitlen Martin, granddaughter of Vanda Trogdon, who was our winner.
Kaitlen will receive a $50 gift certificate from Barnes &
Noble. Thanks for all the great response that we had from everyone for
this special contest. We had a lot of good names entered and the
decision was not an easy one. Thanks to everyone for their great
support and their generous donations for this new missions project!
